I feel most are eager to discredit the Bible, God, Jesus, etc. because they don't want to feel they're going to be held accountable someday for their actions or inactions.
"If the claims of Christianity can be knocked down, then I don't have to worry about how I live and I won't have to answer for it."
It's like everything else nowadays, "It's not my fault! I had a bad childhood, my teachers hated me, I was born poor, I was born ugly, I was born with the wrong name, etc. ad nauseam."
Well, no matter.........whether or not we choose Christ there is going to be an accounting someday. And I don't think the excuse, "But I didn't believe in you, I thought you were a fairy tale," isn't going to hold much water with God.
At least, that's how I feel. The so called compelling physical evidence that each non-believer demands like God owes it to them has got nothing to do with it, nothing at all.

Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again.
(Pascal Mysteries).
Everyone loves a good mystery. St. Thomas Aquinas was a "Logical" philosopher. His approach was to write in a very dry scientific manner. It is said that his though process gave birth to modern scientific theory structures (theory, ways to test theory's) ... anyways, at St. Aquinas death it was reported that he said, "I am but a fool, and no man can come close to reveling the Glory of God". None the less, it's a great way to spend the "Gift" of "Life" that God gave us.

Maybe it's got just a little bit to do with how much suffering and horror this particular book inflicted upon the world?

Why is it impossible? Just because the Bible says it is? The Bible is a BOOK full of STORIES which has been rewritten to suit what the Church WANTS it to say. Nothing more than that.

god is not real to me. someone from century ago made all that up just to make people believe in something that does not exist. I believe their was a creator of the world but it is not god it is nature and that is a fact. i pray but i pray to buddha not god because budhha is just a human who walk around trying to find answer not trying to get people to believe in him. People choose to. he experiance life in poverty instead of riches when he is the prince..

Of course he's dead. He was a human being, and he died a long time ago. Big deal.
