Dogs respond much better to praise then they do to discipline. Not only that, if you're disciplining her after the fact, she has no idea what she did wrong. You almost have to catch them in the act of going, pick them up and move them to where you want them to go (outside or on the pad).

When she does go where she is supposed to go, you need to praise her.

Patience!! It takes lots of patience.

Check the links below for some tips and don't rub her nose in it or yell at her or hit her. She'll just wind up scared of you for life. Dogs want to please their owners. If you give her lots of praise when she does the right thing, she'll want to do it again so you have to take her to her pad or outside after you feed her. When she goes, lot's of praise - "Good doggie" etc.

I used a combination of pads and crate training.

Sadie stayed in her crate at night and when I couldn't watch her. She had plenty of room and a few toys in there. When I pulled her out from her crate i took her right outside. I always used the same door. In front of that door is where I put the puppy pad.

When she was playing she would head to the puppy pad to sniff and I would grab her and bring her outside. I used the pad mainly to draw her sniffer to that door and catch any accidents.

I eventually switched her to a bell. This was a really clear signal that she had to go out. It only took a couple of days for her to figure it out.

Your dog probably still sniffs at the pad. Grab her before she has a chance to have an accident. If you can't watch her then she shouldn't be out- For training as well as her safety.

Try not using discipline Use Praise take her to her pad every hour no more no less and stay with her till she goes then give her a treat and tell her shes a good girl eventually she will go by her self and then you make sure she went to the bathroom and give her a treat and tell her how good she is soon all you will have to do is tell her how good she is but pad training does take time don't give up.

**** Luck

I have a Morkie, they are great pets. Ours is 3lbs. She is 8
months old. We trained her to go on puppy pads and she
did very well. Than we decided to train her to go in a littler box,
but we don't put litter in it. My boyfriend put a grate inside the
box, so when she pees it's not all over her feet. But when she
does her business in the box and before on the pad, we gave
her treats. Dogs love attention and when they do good things
they need to know it. We arn't nuts, but when she was a pup
we would clap our hands and rub her belly and talk to her in
a soft tone, and than she got a treat. We still do give her a
treat. But we don't give her a large piece, just a little. Sometimes
we give her her own food as a treat also.

I myself do not like using the pads, I would use a crate at night and when you leave out. But you have to take her right outside and give her praise when she does go. I used treats when my dogs were younger. Even if you use the training pads patience and reward are the key.

Do you have more than one puppy pad in the home for her? She may not be able to find it in time. Puppies do not have full bladder control until they are 16 weeks old.

using puppy pads is a bad idea. This teaches them it is ok to go in the house and makes teaching your dog to go outside very difficult.

what you should do is every 3 or 4 hours you take her outside and say "go potty! go potty!" and take some treats with you. after she "goes" you praise her and give her a treat.eventually she will stand by your backyard door waiting for you to let her out. if you see her using the floor, imeadiently say no no and pick her up and take her outside. while she is still young, up to about 1 year, take her out after every meal.
