Good question !!! If the second plane had not hit... but the 1st tower collapsed.... I would guess it might have still caused considerable damage to the 2nd tower.... the crash and shake of foundations. And also the flames/heat in the local area next to the second tower after it collapsed could have weakened 2nd tower all by itself (maybe)/
However I'm not an architect or expert. From what I read the occupants of the 2nd tower were told it was safe to stay in building after the 1st crash... not knowing a 2nd jet was on its way to hit them.

Well, they weren't 747's. But, the reason that the buildings came down was because of the planes hitting them and burning inside. The fires weakened the steel which caused the above levels to come down. The rest was just gravity. If the second tower had not been hit, it is likely that it would still stand, however, the damage done in the area would likely have called for it to be demolished at some point anyway.

Yes it would of.
As all the small explosions that the NY Firemen heard would of still gone off and brought down both towers and that other building. Most demolition firms would of been very happy with the way those building went down.

It is entirely possible major damage would occur, and almost certainly, a reasonable time lapse, would have occured because of the accelerating momentum of the first tower, I would be inclined to believe there would have been a considerable saving of life, the overall structure, however would be seriously damaged, and potentionaly uninhabitable.
