I used to be pretty good at this when i was younger: You study the products. Look for two things that don't look like they are securely in the machine (like they could possible fall off if just moved a little) if you find such a product, pick it and hope that two fall instead of one. But that doesn't happen often. In fact, I think it only happened once or twice for me.
Any other way of getting free food from the vending machines would be illegal.

If it looks like an item could fall with just a little movement, put your money in and make that your choice. We usually end up with two items for the price of one where I work. Also, in the drink machines, it's pretty well known where I work that if you hit 2 drink buttons of the same type, at the same time repeatedly, you get 2 drinks for the price of one about 75% of the time.

Here are the steps
1. Look around nervously
2. Find the nearest solid object,
3. Pick up the object and look at it, If you are sweating, wipe the sweat off your face.
4. Look around again for people
5. Throw the solid object (with force) at the glass of the machine
6. Quickly, stuff your bag with food
7. Look around, then run for your life.
If you have bad accuracy and missed and accidently hit a small child with the object.

Smash the machine, and grab something. Then you can go to jail and get free beans and bread, and possibly anal every day for the rest of your miserable life. :] That, or pay 25 cents for a bag of chips. Wow, a quarter. That's just so much money to spend; isn't it? Don't wanna give THAT up.

You could steal it by using a crowbar, or a sawzall, or something like that. If you did, I would certainly doubt your sanity. Now if you wanted to do something legal, you could check the coin return area for coins. You would make a lotmore, though by just picking up plastic water bottles, as they are a nickel apiece. Then take them to the recycle center near you for a coupon for a food store.
