This is because of the way it was written by God--able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Because its a charged word, no matter what language, no matter where you go. SOOO many norms, values, and beliefs are packed into that three letter word, the instant its heard and acknowledge, people react on a wide spectrum of responses. You asked a "WHY" questions though, so simply I answer: becuase we're taught that way (or this way, or anyway...).
