I know some people who were friends first then started dating and are now happily married, but I also know people that met and 4 months later were married and are also happily married. So, it's hard to say which method is best, but I think you know when you've met the right person.

Well I think that the 5 year friendship thing would work better.Because, you both know how the other person really is and what's he/she's looking for.Unlike dating, where you meet the person and you have a pretty picture with a beautiful frame. When you don't really know what's behind the painting. The downside of it,it's that the friendship would be destroyed. And, in dating you can break up and it wouldn't matter as much because you're not losing a friend.

Any TRUE friendship takes time (Friend's or Lover's)! The one you already have can't be too bad after all...(5 yrs. still means a lot)!A new Person is by force always more exciting/interesting but on the long run... Finally it's your choice but think twice before breaking up a long-time relationship 4 a short but maybe great adventure!

Among the things that have gone not quite right in my life...................I was married 21 years to someone I dated for a year after first meeting her. I was married 5 years to a friend of over 25 years.................But that is me and has nothing to do with anyone else or the price of tea in China.

being friends first gives you a solid base to work from and as you know everything and the relationship can move on to the next level without any unexpected baggage getting in the way
