what tips/ advice / Jedi-mind tricks etc can people give me to help fool the tester that I can be entrusted with solo control of a motor car?

Just to clarify; I am a PERFECTLY GOOD driver right now and I have taken months of lessons. All I have to do is pass the DT which imo is an imposition.
I have known perfectly good drivers fail it, and judging by the roads these days, plenty crap drivers who pass.

So if you are a 'perfectly good' driver now, why do you need these additional tips etc?

I'll say one thing - with an attitude like that you certainly will not pass because you are too full of it, and you will make mistakes due to being over confident.

Don't even begin to think that your few months of driving practice is anywhere near the competance that could be displayed by the instructor/examiner.

I always work on the assumption that everybody else on the road is an idiot and out to kill me and even though they are indicating left they might actually change their minds at the last minute and turn right instead (!!). I then try and work out what they will do and act accordingly. It's not so much how you drive yourself, it's how you react to other road users. If you can prove that you can drive for others as well as yourself, then you should pass. Unfortunately, as soon as most people pass their test they start falling into bad habits and the old 1980s Thatcherite "Me, Me, Me" principle takes hold, hence why there are indeed quite a few bad, careless and inconsiderate drivers on the road these days. You need to convince your examiner that as soon as you pass your test you won't become one of them!!! :-)

There is only one way to pass the driving test and that is to drive to the standard set out by the examining body. Whilst that sounds obvious you will be surprized just how many learners forget that your instructor has been teaching you to this standard all this time

Forgat any advise on here and do just what he or she has taught you all these weeks. Most of us drivers on here passed our test years ago and are now not best qualified to advise you anyway.

Do what you have been taught to the letter, No more and No less and you should do just fine

Good luck with the test and once you pass try to remember and put into daily practice everything that you have learned and remain safe for you and the other road users

if you are out to "fool" the examiner, trust me when I tell you that they've seen all the tricks. If you want to really pass the test, then work hard to actually KNOW what the heck you are doing. Consider your driving test as the last opportunity for you to correct a potentially fatal flaw in your driving, again, TRUST me when I tell you that you don't want to be the cause of a fatal accident because you were too lazy to learn the right way to drive. It's very serious, and you have to be very serious. Trying to "fool" the examiner is the irresponsible mentality of a child who shouldn't be allowed behind any steering wheel. So, grow up, practise hard and good luck!!!!!

Who's told you you're a perfectly good driver? Is that just your "humble opinion"?

If you feel you need to fool the examiner, you clearly are not!

By the way, they've seen it all before, if you ARE good enough you'll pass, if you aren't you'll fail. And they do not have quotas.

With that type of attitude you are in danger of becoming a crap driver yourself. Learn to drive, pass the test then LEARN TO DRIVE. Passing the test is only the beginning

Prove to him/her your ability, and always remember, testers are told to fail a certain percentage of would be drivers so a good manner and polite attitude goes a long way as if they dislike you then they might fail you on a minor matter they'd normally let go .... and no appeal... good luck

Give them the red jelly babies! That'd persuade me!
Or there's always, you know, taking lessons and learning? I'm learning at the moment, those people are so pinickity, they want me to stay in my lane, change gears, hold the wheel at ten to two, indicate, look in the mirrors constantly and stay within the speed limit all at once? Must be crazy!
