I assume she is American....
Irrespective of your long term intention, if you intend to marry in the UK then she MUST get a fiancee visa from a British Consulate/Embassy BEFORE travelling to the UK. Don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise - my colleagues at the terminals will be more than happy to refuse her entry and send her packing if she doesn't have the necessary visa.

It might be better if you come over here and get married, so then the only thing you'll have to do is get your citizenship because you married a American over here.

look into the ,form-129F, K-1 visa at www.uscis.gov. If she goes and marries you over there then she will file I-130, then I-129F for the K-3, unless you would want to wait there to do the DS-230 part I & II, www.travel.state.gov.
