Does anyone know what this is? It's a Chinese gold plastic cat and one claw can move when you push or pull it, but it needs one battery to operate. Without the battery, the cat's claws does not swing for long, but with the battery, it keeps going.

I think it has something to do with "chasing away spirits," but if anyone knows the correct name of it, I'd appreciate it.

The awkward thing about it is everytime I put it in the living room (where it has been), it remains on and the claw is always moving (as it should be.) But the other day, my sister tried putting it in our room (we share a room.) During the night, it stopped! I thought maybe it was just the battery, so I took the battery out and put it back in, and then I put it in the living room, where it didn't stop. Then, the next night, I put it back in my room, and it stopped..again. Does this mean anything?

not seeing it, but from description, sounds like nothing more than a cheap 80's toy. (not being mean) Can't say I have ever seen anything like what you describe, specially in the religion section.

Since the claw/arm is working on a pendulum principle, allowing it to swing, when you are moving it, you are not allowing it to sit level, in turn making the pendulum lean and hit the sides of the inside, in turn not allowing it to work.

Think of claw scratching like the arm of a grandfather clock.

The battery adds a little energy to the cat's swinging arm every time it passes by the electro magnet that is connected to the battery. That's what keeps the arm moving, so if the battery is dead or removed, the arm will swing just a few times after being pushed.

It's probably very cute, but it has nothing to do with spirits, because spirits aren't concerned at all about a little plastic cat with a battery powered swinging arm.

So don't worry your self about the cat's arm. Just put a new battery back in it, and it should work in any room.

Regards,

Chris

too many spirits in you room run for your life....ok thats a joke, it thoes not mean anything, am religious and i dont belive an ordinary man made operated object can drive away spirits. i just feel you beliving it protceting you so your having feeling cause it is not working in you room. it might just be that the temperature of your room is running down the battery. and if you still scared somthing might be up, then you shoul seek and fing God because he is ever living and will always protect you, he doesnot need battery to operate. and he is one.

It's Japanese or Korean, I think, and it's a good luck thingy for prosperity. No evil spirits involved, only faulty batteries.

Oh, that. It's for good luck, but I'm not sure of its name. It probably doesn't mean anything.
