The Stories in the bible like Adam and eve, etc. These stories, no matter how un-real they are to believe. Christains believe them. WHY? Do you honestly think you will be a MORE SPIRITUAL PERSON, if you believe these stories? because they are the word of God? You don't know that..
I am not talking about Jesus here. That is a matter of faith, nothing more..
Anyway I thought a real Christain, was someone who followed Jesus. Nothing else.

Jesus Christ believed in the literal story of Adam and Eve:
(Matthew 19:3-6)
Jesus Christ believed in the literal destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
(Matthew 11:24)
Jesus Christ believed literally in the universal flood of Noah.
(Matthew 24:37-39)
Perhaps He was more spiritual than you.

Don't just pick out one story. You need to see the Bible as a whole. It's not about believing these stories, it's the message. You need to understand the Covenants God made with his people, its like a frame to the Bible. Look to the past to understand and see the prophecies. It's written about Jesus in the past OT, NT and in the future to come.
Reading the Scripture can make you more spiritual. But many other things can too.

Like any subject that a person wants to be proficient in, they have to read and understand its origins or history first, in order for it to make sense.

I wouldn't say it makes a person more spiritual, but to Christians the Bible is the Word of God given to us directly by Him. Just as the other Holy Books of other religions, offer an understanding of a person's faith in depth, Christians should follow Christ and be an example. But where would they get that example from if they didn't read the Bible ?

When I first became a Christian I didn't believe all the stories in the bible. But after much investigation I do. There are tons of archeology showing the things in the bible were real.
Like Kind David-they found his "bathes"
The tomb os Ciaphus-pharasee that had Jesus arrested
The city of Ur-where Abraham lived
The walls of Jericho

Oh there is a heck of a lot more if you really want to follow Jesus. The Old Testament points the way towards the Messiah the truth of God's Love for the world that He would send His son to be humiliated in order for us to go to Heaven is in the New Testament. Jesus gave the Apostles orders to teach all nations and He gave them sacraments to draw the strength to do so.

People desire time lines for family history and a country's history they want to see where they have been and where they are going. Its not unusual for nonChristians to do this why is it so unusual for Christians to learn of their history?

Faith is a gift, its like a door opening that you never knew was even in your heart. You can't explain faith, you can't put it in a bottle so everyone can partake of it, it is a gift. You have free will not to believe it is so, maybe its just not your time.

If you study the Bible in it's entirety and pray for God's holy spirit to help you understand, you will realize that these stories are all used to support the theme of the Bible (The vindication of God's name through the application of his Kingdom government under the rulership of Christ Jesus). A real Christian is a person who follows Jesus Christ but Jesus trusted God's word, he promoted it, he applied the principles to his life and he remained steadfast.

The Stories in the bible are simply stories that at that time the apostles had to tell in order to explain some thing very complicate.
This method is used in the schools with children. now is different the people who studied can get in intrinsic explanation. This believes don't save you but help to confront the problems in life.i

Well I'm a Christian and I don't believe that the story of Adam and Eve is 100% accurate. It's a myth. I'm a Catholic, and unlike some other Christians, Catholics don't believe that the Bible should be taken 100% literally. It's a collection of stories that was written over hundreds of years. Some of them are more accurate than others.

this is probably the most asked of questions and no matter how many times the people answer the question goes on and on.

all religions or anything else has to be accepted on faith alone...
even love and marriage...as there is little faith anymore the average marriage is in the toilets in the US...so is all the other things of church matter.
if you can't make your love life survive..what can you expect any god to do for you as you don't believe in them too...what is love?
the US is dying because they don't even know the answer to basic questions like this one and what is faith? honesty? morals,?
well, just keep groping in the dark...thats what you do the best.

The Bible is the Christian's only source of truth on the facts of Jesus. If we can't believe everything, then who's to say that what it says about Jesus isn't false also?
