She is over a year old and litter box trained. She is a very good cat in every other way. She is sweet and affectionate, and very fun. But every once in a while I find that she has peed on my bed. Help me if you can, please! And I'm looking for serious solutions, don't tell me to just get rid of her, please.

Is this your only cat?
If not do you have one cat box for each cat? There should be one box per cat.

When she peed on your bed was her cat box dirty? A cat will pee someplace else if their box is dirty. I clean just about everyday because my cat is picky about the box.

Have you had her checked for a urinary tract infection? When a cat has a UTI they pee other places because the dust from the litter burns their sensative areas.

If you want to check for a UTI without going to the vet I have seen cat litter that turns purple when the cat has a UTI. I think I have seen it at Wal-Mart and Petsmart but I do not see it on the websites.

If you rule out UTI. I would get Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract Cat litter. It draws cats to the litter box. They want to pee on it, not sure how that works but it does.

As for your bed - Clean it will lemon fresh Lyson since cats do not like the smell of lemon.

Can you lock her out of the bedroom?
Once a cat pees in one area it takes a long time to stop them, because they can still smell the urine there.

If not then put tin foil in the bed - I know that would need a lot of foil. The foil would scare her jumping on the bed at all. The noise and feeling of the foil when she jumped up she would jump right off.

I wish you good luck. Please remember to be patient. The number one reason that cats are taken to shelters is because of potty issues. I had a cat who was urinating in the livingroom and he had a UTI, once it was cleared up he continued to do it. I cleaned with lemon lysol - put down foil in the spots and got the cat attract litter and he stopped.

She may just be marking you as hers. Perhaps she likes the smell of it. Wash all of the bedding and keep her out of the bedroom except when you are in it. Keep her litter box immaculately clean. Empty it and wash the box with a good disinfectant, dry it and put cleaned litter back in. Try using a good clumping litter as it lasts a long time and is easy to clean. Try all this if she is behaving normally and not sick. Some girls are just picky.

The first thing I would do is bring her to your vet and have her urine checked for infection. UTI's in cats are common and she may be urinating on your bed to get your attention that something is wrong. Once you rule out a physical cause than you can try using Cat Attract. This product is something that vets sell and you add it to the litter box and it "attracts" your cat to the box. Give both a try. Good luck!

Have your vet do a urinalisis on her.
She may have an infection.
Cats are known for using areas outside of the litter box when there is something wrong with them. (like a UTI)

if medical problem are ruled OUT-- then it is behavioral. my cat did this when there was DOWN goose feather bedding. also-- remove the bedding that the cat hs gone on. i used to put it in the closet during the day-- and he trained away from it. might totally get rid of that bedding and start fresh( so smell trigger is eliminated)-- start by hidding the blankets, then bring it out at night when you sleep.

Maybe you should make her litter box look just like your bed. one of my friends did that and it worked.

Perhaps your bedroom door is closed and she can't get to her litter box. Sounds unpleasant to me, anyway, being a dog-lover!
