There are 2 speakers installed in the walls of the living room. The wires to connect them are visable, there's 2 separte wires with 2 little wires in each. One wire is for the left speaker and the other for the right. Each wire has a smaller red and black wire sticking out. The red and black wire have some black duct tape around them to make them stay together, I don't know if the previous owners did that to protect the wires or if that's what they needed to do to connect it to the t.v. I have a 42 inch flat screen panasonic. Any help would be great, Thanks!

You won't be able to connect those speakers directly to the tv.
You will need to connect your tv to a stereo/ home theater receiver and connect that to the speakers.

If you go with a 5.1 channel surround sound system, those speakers wil be your front left and front right speakers.

well..there is a simple rule...a speaker will only have two wires for each on..one positive...one negative...so my guess is that the person who installed the wire didn't have 16 gauge speaker wire and used something else with four conductors and put the pairs together to make a pair..the two wires duct taped together would serve as one lead..neg or the positive i can't tell without seeing it...if the two red are together than that's the positive...and the black will be the negative....then all you need if your t.v doesn't have a speaker out put...is a stereo receiver to run the speakers off off..and then you run the t.v. sound into the receiver

A typical TV speaker output is about 10 Watts, so without any amplification, it is not recommended to hook external speakers directly to the TV.

You need to buy an AV receiver (or home theater). Connect the audio out from the TV to the receiver and then connect the speakers directly to the speaker outputs of the receiver.

you cant connect the to the tv. you need to buy a reciever and connect them to the reciever. The from the audio outputs red and white on the back of your tv with a pair of patch cables run the patch cables form your tv to an input on your reciever and there you go the sound coming from your tv will come out the speakers in the wall.

you need to buy an amplifier. Plug the speakers into that then buy a phono cable (sound cable with red and white conections on each end) an connect that to the amp and then up to your tv. look for an red and white socket next to each other on your tv

your best bet would be to connect your tv to your stereo--use the aux ports, then hook up the speakers to your stereo. when you want the tv sound, turn on the stereo & put it on aux
