Do you really know what "The Mall" is? It is not a shopping center or an entertainment center. The Mall is the open grassy area between the Capitol and Lincoln Memorial.

There are not shops or buildings on The Mall. Simply an open grassy area. Sometimes in the summer there are protest marches on The Mall. There probably will be more and more protest marches on The Mall until the troops come home from George "Weasel" Bush's war in Iraq that is wasting American lives.

If you are referring to the Mall in Washington, DC where some of the historical buildings are located, you can visit the Smithsonian Institutes Castle, Museum of Natual History, Freer Art Gallery, Air & Space Museum, and the Washington Monument to name a few. If you visit in the month of July they have the Folklife Festival that showcases cultures form other U. S. states and countries around the world. It gets pretty steamy in D.C. But be careful, there are a lot of bad people who may rob you in the daytime and rape at night. So always stay with a tour in the evening hours.

The monuments and the Capitol are beautiful at night, but be cautious. A couple months ago there was a stream of crime on "the mall". They beefed up security, but still be safe. There are a couple of tours from Union Station at show all the monuments at night.

Just walk around all the monuments. At night when they are light up it is just beautiful and inspiring. You used to be able to go up in the Washington monument at night, but I'm not sure if you can still do that.
