It's always no fish on Friday for teens and up, not just during Lent. Don't know why, don't care. It was never explained to me when I was a kid, it was just something my family did.
Now, as an atheist, I don't allow religion to dictate my diet, my sexuality, or anything else.

Every Friday used to be a day of fasting. I think that ended with Vatican II. Now, a Catholic only has to fast on Lenten Fridays. I will say that, if the Church were to bring back year-round Friday fasting, I would embrace without taking issue.
The Church is never going to change it's stance of sexual morality. Pre-marital sex is a violation of a Catholic/Christian vos of chastity.
Unfortunately, there will always be those who will do whatever they want, regardless of what the Church thinks. They need the prayers of others who are at least making an effort.

what do u mean?? The Catholic Church says we abstain from meat every Friday for those 14 and up. We already follow that rule and its been in existence for a long time.
Im actually okay with the present rule. Self sacrifice and discipline are so LACKING in America these days. People dont know when enough is enough or when they need to keep quiet.
Therefore, the Roman CAth. Church requires Catholics to do this to develop those virtues.

do no longer make a instruct approximately it. first of all, different than for Lent, Catholics are no longer universally called to abstain from meat on Fridays. you are able to consume meat and not be getting in any respect against the Catholic Church. Your bishop is basically /asking/ you to. in case you have reason to no longer (e.g. you're at a dinner arty and that they only have meat), you are able to. Secondly, Catholics are called to be good people. Bullying a guy or woman into being Catholic is a no-no (no longer asserting that no Catholics do it, yet, different than for a mum and dad strongly nudging their toddlers to be Catholic, it fairly is incorrect). for that reason, in the experience that your friends make relaxing of you, on their very own head be it. Thirdly, as long as you're no longer actively attempting to instruct you're no longer Catholic (and that i've got confidence you would be responsive to no remember in case you have been), there is not any longer something manifestly incorrect approximately what you're doing. I recommend, being Catholic, i could say your determination to instruct from the Church is misguided, yet there is an entire litany approximately how, in case you're doing because of the fact of a conflict of ethical experience, you may desire to do it. So, basically persist with your ethical experience. and don't act out for interest. EDIT: you certainly lose no longer something yet delight in case you do no longer consume meat, and delight is something you are able to still do without. So it fairly is completely fantastic in case you do no longer decide for to.

The word of the Catholic church is the word of Jesus Christ so if Jesus said it i would do it.
How about tellin us a little bit about your beliefs instead of trying to compromise ours.
