The other answers are good, but I have a different one for you. I have found my overall, general knowledge increased incredibly just by answering questions in Yahoo! Answers. I find questions several hours old or older which have no really good answers. If they are in a subject which I don't know much about, but know there are reliable web references available, I research and answer the question. It's not quick, because I'm learning as I formulate an answer, but it's been really fun and not only useful to myself but to others, according to the number of best answers I've received. You might try my method as a more interactive way to learn than just reading articles in Wikipedia.
