in these wetlands there are beevers, redtailhawks, and many other wild life that live there, just because the tiny airport wants the trees cut down instead of topping them. they were told once before not to touch that area, but they will not listen. the tree company they hired went to vincentown, nj. municipal building for permints. is there anything that can be done before we loose more wet lands and wild life. thank you

I think you should do something about it. I think this company is breaking many laws. If there are ANY birds nesting in those trees and they cut them down they are breaking the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Also many species of trees are protected and are considered historical monuments. If you make a stink about it you may be able to get it stopped. Usually when something like this is done, legally they are suppossed to hire environmental consultants to check out what kind of animals are found there and what kind of an impact the tree cutting would have. My guess is they did not even do this, as ANY consultant would know that trees cannot legally be cut or even trimmed during breeding season. It is raptor nesting season right now. Do some research to see if there even was an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) done...if not, they are not legally allowed to take those trees.

If there are really wetlands present, contact the US Army Corps of Engineers and the EPA in your state. A permit should have been obtained. You may find that arrangements were made for saving of other wetlands to replace these.

One thing you need to ask however. Were there trees and wetlands where you work? Does your job exist because they were cut down for you? Hypocrisy is a terrible thing.

Do not take criminal action, possibly hurting or killing people as the first answer suggests. You need to take political action through your local government, but it may be too late if they are ready to start. But in the long run this kind of thing will continue as long as the population continues to grow. More people need more land for houses, roads, schools, farms and so on. As long as the population grows, more and more land will be developed.

I once got a development shut down ..but it was only temporary... i knew of a bird that nested in the vicinity, that is endangered, and pitched a squawk in the local news paper...to make a long story short... the project was reviewed, , but not prevented... it was a hard lesson in futility for me..
good luck

here are some solutions:
1.Report it to an organization like Greenpeace or WWF.
2.Inform residents of the area and people of your state about this event and call them for help
3.Talk to the government of your state
4.Make the event known
5.Keep trying

Buy the wetland and/or the airport. If you're not willing to put your money where your mouth is, don't whine when somebody else does what they want on THEIR property.

Buy giant 10" spikes at the hardware store. Pound them into the tree about 2 feet up at an angle. When they go to cut them down it will destroy their chain saw. Possibly kicking back on them and sawing their own leg off. Not the prettiest way but it works. Or you could just go hug a tree. So they could not cut it down I mean.

See I got 4 thumbs down because they know I'm right. But yeah greenpeace might be better or WWF.
