First of all, does the Adderal work for you? Why are you seeking alternatives when you have a fast acting and provable way to assist you? Without well-regulated medication intervention, all other interventions are doomed to failure. …Neither behavioral nor cognitive therapies have any lasting effect unless the patient was also taking stimulant medication. Are you wishing to stop because your in denial of this or you feel you will be (or have been) stigmatized? These stimulants are not addictive. They are, however, abusable, although this is rare. Well regulated medication renders people with ADHD "normal" and over-dosing produces an unpleasant "zombie-effect." If you have a concern about addiction, recall how difficult it is to remember to take your medication on time!
I ask all this because I want you to be certain you want to try this; do be aware that the medication your taking is 100% effective whereas alternative medicine is greatly varied. Now that I got that out of the way I will suggest trying a method that requires organization.
Many of us that have Adult ADHD are horrible unorganized; that is the best way to go through with this head long/head first with an alternative treatment otherwise the end result will be a plain mess--disordered, disarray in life let's care for that first, okay? Don't take my word on anything, continue to be pro active and be an informed health care consumer. One of the things you best be aware of is in the US there is a very wide gap between what is considered 'safe' and that which the our European countparts have. So...in some aspects to this; look for European vitamins, studies for veracity because they use a type of 'reasonable certainty' to all claims throughout a period of time.
Now, I mentioned organization. Now we'll go on to others; diet. Look at foods you eat, eliminate sugar--ADHD folks have a worse reaction to sugar than most, and watch what your eating you may actually have a food allergy. Exercise!! Run, rollerblading, whatever fits your fancy--something you can do that is enjoyable. You want tons of endrophins flowing, girlfriend! MAKE IT FUN! Who wants dull exercise and with us who have A-ADHD consistently is key. Sleep, and get enough. People that are sleep deprived make more mistakes, are more irritable, and forgetful. And we don't need this! Go out with your buds, have fun. Be socially active.
Now on to 'vitamin' alternatives: try Pycnogenol, blue-green algae and ginko bilboa. Its better to take all three however, I want you to take one at a time. You may experience headaches and especially at a small dosage, but all three are good. Reason for headaches is all three of these pass the blood-brain barrier (vaso-dialator) and good for assisting your pretty little head to 'work right' but don't take them all at once because if you experience the headaches you need to know which one creates that (you may not just giving you a heads up). Evening Primrose Oil was and perhaps its because it is high in Omega 3 essential fatty acids (look up research on that...I'm just sharing personal experience). Try Valerian root, I was taking that for PMS symptoms and noticed a improvement in my ADHD as well.
Blessings to you. Good luck girl and don't fret if you have to go back to the pharmecutical meds they are there to assist you when needed.

Don't seek a pill, to fix your problems.
Look with in yourself and find out what you want out of life. Pursue it. And never again acknowledge this type of non-sense.
You believe you have a disorder because that is what a "doctor" has told you. While on the surface this appears a very normal path I would like to point out why this process of thought is absurd.
Psychology is NOT SCIENCE! Psychology is an interpretive subject, like Literature or Music. Psychology has it's roots in cultural normality, or what is acceptable and popular at the time. As recently as the 1970's homosexuality was considered a mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association. Regardless, of your opinion on the matter, it shows that the basis for classifying a disorder is popular opinion. Not science.
Image for instance, that a "Dr." of English literature read a poem you wrote. How would you react if he told you that your poem was abnormal according to popular opinion, and you required drug therapy to correct this problem? You would probably tell him to "go jump in a lake". Yet when a psychologist diagnoses you with "ADHD" you see no option other than to take a pill, and hope that it gets better.
I see that taylor has given you the run down on alternatives and at the same time encouraged you to continue with the normal treatment trough medication. This is good general counsil. But I would recomend you take this problem head on and realize that there is no spoon. This disorder is a title for your own lack of disipline and direction. Take charge of your own destiny.
Don't seek a pill to solve your problems.
