Paxil is evil. Do not go back to it. Buspar works really well for anxiety in most people. Klonopin works even better. I had no problem with Buspar, but when i switched Dr., the new one wanted me to try the Klonopin and it worked even better, so I stuck with it.

I hope this info is helpful :-)

according to my book on prescription drugs, buspar seems to be an effective alternate to paxil. But they both have typically the same side effects. Driving alone is probably not a good idea as with lots of medications. Do you have friends or neighbors that would drive you where you need to go? That way you get to enjoy the outing and the friendship. I wish you the best.

I was on Paxil for 2 or 3 months back in 2003 or so. I finally had to stop taking it because it made me very sleepy. I couldn't tell whether it was helping with my symptoms or not because I was sleeping 12 hours a day.

well, if your afraid of driving alone because of fear of attacks, that means your panic attacks are not under control. you don't want to live with the fear of having another panic attack. what you need to do is go see a psychiatrist. they can help you better than a family doctor can. taking .5mg of xanax like 3 to 4 times a day may be what you need to keep your panic attacks under control. but you have to take one every close to five hours during the day. but they also have the extended release now so you don't have to take as many, but with that, you may need the 1mg .and maybe take it twice a day. one thing with panic attacks. most people never get over them, and xanax is very addictive, so if you start it, its most likely going to be for the long term. but you'll be much happier and no attacks. see your psychologist. its worth it.

I HATED paxil. I gained so much weight on it. I lost some of the weight without trying when I stopped taking it. Now I am on Prozac and I love it.

Medications tend to mask the problem/s that are truly the cause. They work best in conjunction with therapy. Consult a good therapist and let him/her teach you some ways to overcome these vicious attacks. Good Luck!
