My lover had 'beefeaters london dry' gin before and said it was disgusting and even a mixed drink the flavour was too much for him! I've never tried gin, but I've read a label of another kind of gin (sorry can't remember the brand!) Said it was citrus flavoured and that sounds kind of nice for a mixed drink. I wouldn't mind trying it, but I don't want to risk something too disgusting to drink! Any experienced gin drinkers out there that could help me out? I've read it's just flavoured vodka, but I'm not really sure!

Yes gin is basicly flavored vodka. Gin is flavored with juniper berries, giving it it's distinct tase. Gin starts out the same exact way as most vodkas, fermented grain. Vodka as well as gin can be made from many products, but the most common are grain. The difference between the two comes during or after the distilation process. Juniper berries can be placed in a basket in the top of the still for the vaporized alchohol to pass through, or in some cases they are steeped in the finished product for their flavor. Gin is NEVER made from juniper berries, they are only a flavoring agent. During prohibition there was alot of gin actually made from sugar, they turned it into gin to disguise the flavor of the poorly made liquor.

If you don't like the flavor of juniper berries, stick with vodka. All gin by definition has the flavor from juniper berries, otherwise it would be vodka. Gin was popular in the past, but the song "sippin' on gin and juice" has popularized gin once again, so to cater to those not acustomed to the traditional flavor they have added other flavors to cater to a larger market.

And no all gin's aren't the same, I personally like beefeaters (gin and tonic with a twist of lime), but hendrick's and van gogh also make good gins. It is much like vodka, cheap gin will be harsh, and will give an awfull hangover. ALWAYS drink good liquor, cheap stuff only kills you faster. Spend the extra dollar, its more than worth it.

Yes there are different Gin's/Vodkas. The plain ones make mostly a change by Brand Name in the price also quality for people how know the real thing but others are flavoured with lemon, peach etc. The "flavourved" one's are best just on ice since they'd loose their special taste mixed with juices etc.

Gin is not like vodka. Its totallly different. Its made from juniper berries. Thats what gives it that distinct flavor. I personally dont like it. I think it tastes like perfume. And all gin tastes the same. There are better ones than others but they all have that juniper taste. Stick with the vodka.

i like the way you have "dreamed" and "remembered" those costs in there. it particularly is unhappy, hurtful, and deep (the appropriate valentine); i won't manage to help yet thinking of the lyrics "All nevertheless I chortle and that i act like a clown under this mask i'm wearing a frown"
