don't tell the cops anything. you have the right not to incriminate yourself. You should get you r car out ASAP, because those thieves charge like 200 dollars a day. just tell them you had an accident and you went to get help and when you got back, it was gone.

You still left the scene of an accident. Why didn't you call the Police or go to the nearest Police Station like you supposed to do? So, if the car has been towed, you will have that, impound fees, and the Police may charge you with leaving the scen and failure to report an accident on a public roadway. You need to to contact them now instead of being on your computer!!!

When I have fail to remain accidents I put a "hold" on the car until I hear from the registered owner and the impound yard won't release it until I say so. So you may have to talk to the police. I'm assuming you snockered last night and that's why you took off. You may be charged with fail to remain at an accident or maybe failing to report an accident. Her in Ontario there is no requirement to report an accident like this to police if there is under $1000 damage and no injuries (and no damage to highway property).

Sooner the better
impound fees are mounting up and tow truck drivers can't arrest anyone don't drink before you go and quit drinking and driving before you kill someone
Then again wait a week for things to cool down and the impound fees to be more than the car is worth then maybe you'll learn a lesson if you have to pay to not have a car and driving drunk make the roads safer

First check if your car is still in the ditch. If it is, call a tow truck. If it is not, call the police department to find out what lot it was taken to, how much it will be to get it out, and what papers you need to prove it is yours. If the ditch is on private property, contact the private property owners and ask them what happened to it. Unless you know something we don't, you should not be arrested for anything.

Basically fleeing the scene of an accident. And while they may not be able to prove it, I'm going to guess you were drunk which is probably the reason you left the scene.

Report it stolen - just kidding. It's too late for that anyways. I would call the cops and tell them what happened. Tell them you left the scene because you thought you could just deal with it in the morning - not realizing it was a crime. But now it's been brought to your attention that it IS a crime.

Were you drinking? Were the roads slick? Why did you run into a ditch, did you go to sleep? I doubt they will do anything because there wasn't another car involved, hey you went to get help. You don't remember what happened-it worked for Ted Kennedy.
