You need an antihistamine:
Use benadryl or reactine. Both will stop the reaction. Both are sold in any drug store. Ask a pharmacist to help you find them. I have 2 kids that get hives. Works like a charm. Good to know you are seeing the Dr.

You should get a shot from the doctor. I used to get hives all throughout high school, and for awhile, I thought it was because I was allergic to shrimp. After I started getting hives even when I wasn't eating shrimp, I started to notice that when I go from extremely cold weather into a very warm room, my skin would break out into hives. And vice versa. I started reading up on hives and it was noted that a change in weather or temperature can also bring on hives.

But, to control the itching, I would take a Benedryl. You should also take a cool shower to reduce the itchiness. I know, it itches, but, for me, I got about two shots for the hives, and they haven't returned since. You should also see what types of soaps you are using. I would switch over to something that is for sensitive skins as well.
