Are we really stuck with placing our faith in humans? That basically means there is no hope, right?

No, I do not want to forget about the hope and enjoy life for temporary self. That is just stupid.

Right. So if you don't believe in God, you either have an unrealistically high opinion of your own abilities or a naively optimistic view of human nature. At least now I know that Atheists are not smart.

God conceals universe during day, and reveals the world, and every night, he reveals the universe and conceals the world. We daily see it, and look at the sky at night, with its millions and millions of stars. Who said, there is no God. What all I have seen, make me believe the creator, which I have not seen. If u lack, careful observation and employ only physical eyes, u fail to see the God. Every body whose inner soul/ eye is awakened saw the God. Once, people understand him, hope automatically starts. hence invoke their inner eye, and open it, and it generates hope unfailingly and continuously,

Why would the nonexistence of a god mean we have to place our faith in humans?

Why would the nonexistence of a god mean there's no hope?

The fact is that atheists do not believe in gods, and we're not running around screaming about how hopeless everything is. I don't believe there's any god, but I have a lot of hope for the future, and because I take personal responsibility for my life, so far that hope has been well rewarded.

I find it sad that believers think that they cannot have hope without their religious beliefs, but if those beliefs help them to keep hope, it's okay. But when they cannot imagine that others could not have hope if those others don't hold the same beliefs, that's just plain dishonest. Atheists are not despondent, hopeless people. We're not arrogant, we're not exceptionally angry, we're not stubborn or narrow-minded, and in fact as a whole, atheists are a pretty danged pleasant, productive, humor-filled, intelligent lot.

Based on what? None of that makes any sense - what makes you think that atheism is about having those particular flaws?

You seem to be of the mistaken opinion that there's some universal law that says that someone somewhere must know everything, so that if atheists deny the existence of a god, that means that we believe that we know everything. But of course we never said any such thing, and that opinion is simply false.

I know it's really frightening to think that maybe you're not the center of the universe, but you're not. Deal with it.

OF COURSE THERE'S HOPE! Look in the mirror... as long as you're alive you have the opportunity to make the biggest most important changes of all... in your own mind, how you perceive things and your own wisdom and altruism! If you look in the mirror and see your image looking back at you, it means you're still alive and still have the chance to effect change... by making a change in your own life, altruistically, you make others happy, thereby making yourself happy by default. Also, there's that little tickle called the "ripple effect"... someone seeing YOU doing something altruistic might think it's good and do something like that on THEIR own and so on...

Get kickin'... we all die, so make the most of what you HAVE.

I am an atheist that have no beliefs in any god(s). Yet I do have hope. Yes, that hope is placed in humans (ourselves in general, my children in particular). I have hope for the future, since my children and my children's children will inherit the earth when I will have died.

If we do not have the confidence to continue ourselves without a belief in some sky-daddy, we cannot truly grow up and take on the responsibility for ourselves.

Why do you need a god to have hope? The hope just doesn't stem from a god for a time when you die. Atheists work to make the world a better world in THIS life, not exist for another. Hope means nothing if you're doing nothing to try to make it happen.

How would you like to soar like an eagle, instead of despair? Sounds pretty great to me! God bless.

Isaiah 40:31
"But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

There is no hope outside of God - Christ Jesus "the Hope of Glory" - without Christ all humanity is doomed to an eternity without God. The Scripture says if in this life ONLY we have hope...then we are of all men most miserable. But now our hope in Christ gives us the very best of both worlds - the life we now live and the life to come! Can't beat that!

I have hope in lots of things. My family, friends. That my volunteering is making the world a better place. I just don't have "hope" in an invisible sky pixie.

And if you decide upon "what is real" based on "what gives me the most hope" - then how is that any different than a 39-year-old who still believes in Santa because Christmas just feels better when he believes in him? You can't deny that Christmas is more magical and hopeful if the Santa thing were real. Ditto: god.

If there is no God, where is the hope?

EXACTLY......

Do not put your trust in humans.. Not only will they fail you , they will also stab you in the back if they can...

GOD is the only one you can and should trust..

Believe in GOD... Put your trust in GOD alone ... Have faith all will be well.. Pray often...and always .. always hope for tomorrow..

Love and Blessings to you :)

Luckily, there is a God. It would be a truly hopeless life without God. I think we humans have already shown that if we had to place our faith in ourselves, we're already doomed.
