Moust clubs have there own guns so you can try, whats more they have knowledgable shooters who will advise you on all the do's and donts,, just dont be scared to ask questions.
If your over 5ft 5" and 13 yer old then its a 12. Make and modle all depends which dicaplin you wish to shoot pluss whether or not you intend to use it on other types of shooting ie rough, game, pigeons, wildfowle and so on. Like i said ask at the club.
How serious are you about it ? if so then get your self a decent gun,, the moust common makes at a british clay ground are
Berreta, mirikue, Parazzie, Browning, Krigkoffe,
Types--- sporters (interchangable chokes called multichokes)
Trap genaraly 30" to 32" barrel used for DTL
(down the line
Skeet -- open chokes

A bit of advice i will offer and the same was offerd to me when i bought my first gun, and that is
Never buy the gun that dont wish to be stuck with

For Sporting Clays 12Ga is most common, but you could probably shoot with a 20Ga.

For Trap 12Ga is pretty much mandatory due to increased range - I've never seen anyone use anything smaller.

For Skeet you can, with sufficient skill, go down as low as 28Ga/.410Bore. Many if not most tournaments group shooters by bore size, so if you're shooting sket with a 20, you shoot against other 20's, etc.

If you're a full-sized man, I'd recommend starting with a 12, if the recoil gives you trouble you can get lighter loads, but it's going to be your most versitile gun. For smaller people start out with a 20 unless you intend to shoot trap.

Good luck and good shooting.

depends on you... your size, age etc... I have shot skeet with 20's 12's and even tried it with .410... are you going to use the gun for anything else, like hunting? If so you will need to take that into account as well... I have also shot with pumps and semi-autos which are fun as well... always take extra care when around firearms, ok? Have fun!
