Protecting flora and fauna is very important for us and our environment. Even today we do not know what they have in store for us. May be one of those plant or animal which has gone extinct in last few decades had a capability to fight AIDS and now we have lost it with it.
The most important thing required is creating awareness amongst people. We need to understand that saving our natural world is important for us and we are going to be the biggest loosers if they are lost. We will loose the battle and become extinct if environmental degradation continues with present level.
Do not waste and try to reuse whatever possible. Remember we city dwellers waste a lot be it water or electricity or any other thing. We should change our life style to more sustainable one.
We humans think with science we will be able to do anything from controling global warming to environmental degradation but look at the cost involved instead if we follow more sustainable living standards this money can be used for development of entire humanity.
Few important actions we should take include:
Create awareness,
Start work on local level, remember every small action matters,
Follow the age old principals of equality which we are forgeting,
Protect wildlife and forests,
Plant trees,
Reuse and Recycle.
Create protected areas.
Impliment laws to protect our flora and fauna. etc.,

The government must designate areas for conservation of the dying flora and fauna. Sadly, due to the greed of man, not only animals but also plants are getting extinct. In spite of so many national parks, poaching still goes on, and many drug companies thoughtlessly pluck out rare plant species without replanting. It is a question of reverence for nature. Ideas like 'God gave us plants and animals for our use' must be removed from our minds. Laws have to be made strict, and enforced to stop this killing of flora and fauna.
