We are having a HUGE mouse problem. I have put out snap traps, but I really just want them gone, and it could take for ever to get rid of them like that (or we might never). I also have a cat who has just recently started eating them. Is there any kind of poison I can put out that won't hurt him if he gets ahold of one?

yes it can. did you ever learn about the DDT problems? DDT is a pesticide that was used and when animals ate bugs poisoned by it they too became poisoned. but i don't think you need to worry because cats will not eat a creature that they did not kill themselves. so they won't just go and eat a dead mouse. so the only chance it will eat a poisoned mouse is if the mouse did not die yet. so if you are really worried about that happening switch to using mouse traps instead of poison. but if you think about it, the amount of poison that would kill a mouse would not be enough to kill a cat. depending on the strength of the poison the cat may get sick but not die

No there isnt... buuut you can get these niffty mice traps that they go into but they cant come out! There is extra sticky pads inside the traps and the mice cant get out (i guess its like a roach hotel but for mice!) I would invest in one of those and a few sticky pads around your place... be sure to put the near the walls because mice run along the side of the wall and feel it with their whiskers so they know where they are going in the dark... put some peanut butter in the middle of the sticky pads or some cheese =) that'll get em gone! and they have their last meal!! hahah I hope this helps!! But please dont use any rat poison... the rats eat that then go die somewhere and you have a rotting mouse carcas somewhere and the worry about your kitty getting one and eating it... rat poison is killer for kitties!

No, any poison you put out for rats and mice can give your cat a secondary poisoning from ingesting the rodent.

Traps are the only way to go. Also that is more humane way to dispose of the rodents. The rat or mouse poison causes a prolonged and painful death for the rodent.

NO. Any poison you put out will kill your cat. Don't do it. Keep up with the snap traps and now that your cat eats them...this may cut down on their numbers as well.

this can be harmful to your cat-- a lot of rodenticides contain poison that will cause the cat to bleed and they can not clot-- it becomes a crisis in need of vitamin K.
do not have your cat undergo any surgery (like spay/neuter) until you discuss this with your vet and have them check her vitamin K levels, or she could bleed seriously.

No. You need to find where they are coming in and place catch and release traps with peanut butter in them and take them a few blocks from your home.
