I have medium length, straight, thick hair. It is brown and every time I curl it with curlers or a curling iron, my hair starts to straighten itself out within a couple of hours. I really want a hair style that will look great with hair like mine. Please help! Pictures are welcome.

My face shape is oval and I am a teenager so I want a young looking hairstyle.

You might want to get it thinned out~~and thinned a LOT. I have thick hair, too and my styles usually fall out within a couple of hours. When I have my stylist thin my hair really well, I usually don't have the problem anymore. That is, until my hair grows and it's thick again. A pair of thinning shears and a stylist that knows how to use them are your best bet. Hope this helps!!

I used to have the exact same type of hair, except that its black. And everytime I tried to curl it or at least blowdry it to have more volume, it never worked out. It would eventually straighten itself out, flat. I couldn't cut my hair short because I have a wide face So what I did was I got a perm, but I had asked for big wavy curls, not kinky poodle ones. The result? I had instant voluminous curls that didn't need any hair product to keep it from straightening out. I also had it cut in layers, so that it didn't poof.

I think you should just leave your style alone. I have the same problem as you and instead of wasting money at the salon I just let it be. But if you are going to a special event maybe you can just get a perm. That's what I always do.

curls won't stay in by themselves. after you curl your hair, try using some hairspray on it so it stays a little longer. spray from a distance.

you can't always get what you want. But you get what you need. I think you should be glad you've got what you've got.
