I had a stacked cake (with the pedastals) which really wasn't all that much more spendy exept i had to rent the plastic supports. If someone other than a pro bakery is making it, it wouldn't be much more work, I'd think, and this way you can separate the layers. The top layer on mine was for myself and the groom, so whatever you like. Then we did a layer of white with lemon, chocolate with rasberry, and yellow with custard. The chocolate was most popular, then the white, then the yellow, but more people said they liked the yellow after trying it. If you must choose just one flavor, I'd stay away from chocolate, as many people are allergic. But it's your wedding, the one day you get anything you want, so get what you like. The guests will love it no matter what. It's free food to them, after all.

I had mine made with white cake and used almond flavoring to jazz it up. My grooms cake was chocolate with chocolate icing woven into a basket with chocolate covered strawberries in the top of it. That way people had a choice. Good luck and congrats!

The fantastic thing is these days you can do each layer different. So if you have say a four layer cake you can do one traditional vanilla, one chocolate, one lemon and perhaps one raspberry or mango or one of the new fun flavors that are gaining in popularity.

How about a Marble cake, Then you have white cake and chocolate swirl through it. You will satisfy the people that like chocolate and the ones that like white. Good luck with your decision.

Try half chocolate and half white or yellow with buttercream icing. Who could say no to that?

Just stay away from that nasty tasting fondent that pastry chefs decorate with. Yes, they are absolutely gorgeous, but they taste lso hideously gross.

I think Butter Cream would be a very nice flavor and you could add a little more vanilla. I think that would please a lot of people.
