I think your question has been answered - several times over, already. But I wanted to give you a tip...
Take garlic capsules. Fleas don't like the taste of garlic. It will help quite a bit as far as YOUR flea bites go.

Ask your vet, but Advantage or one of the forms of flea meds that they apply to your cat will kill even the fleas in your house within 2-3 wks. One thing to remember is that once you apply this medication that you can not use anything else on your cat or in your home. This however does the job. I had that same problem a few years ago. I am now flea free. Oh and it is not expensive, especially considering all the money you will spend trying to get rid of the fleas and the eggs, which seems to be impossible.

You need to use Frontline for cat's and apply it to the back of his neck once a month and any fleas in your house or on your cat will die once they bite the cat. Go to the vet and they can sell you some and they can recommend a spray to speed up the process in the home. Over the counter or store bought items never seem to have the same power or lasting strength as the vets products, so it is better to spend your money there less often than keep throwing it away at stores over and over.

When you bomb your house all you are killing is the adult flea's the eggs are almost indestructible. You need to get some sprinkle on insecticide for your carpets, and wash any fabric items that your cat comes into contact with in VERRRRRRY hot water ( at least 120 degrees) to destroy the eggs, and kill off the young fleas as they hatch.
This whole process can take up to six weeks.
Your cat is probably the only warm blooded food source for the fleas in your home and no matter what you use they will keep attacking as long as there is another generation waiting in the carpet.

The best flea product I have ever used is CAPSTAR. My terripoo was infested to point that he was bleeding from the sores from scratching so much. I was bathing him every couple of days. Tried all the Frontline and Advantage products. My neighbor gave me this CAPSTAR and I gave him and my two cats a dose. The cats were fine in 24 hours, the dog needed a second treatment the next day. It is safe and can be used every day if needed till the fleas are gone. I believe it is available over the counter, but she gets it in her vets office.

You really should not be using dual treatments on your cat. The flea treatment can be poisonous to your cat. In fact, over-the-counter treatments by themselves not administered properly can be toxic, or some just be toxic to certain pets. My cat had a bad reaction to some flea drops I once placed on the back of his neck. If you are having problems like you say you are, I would suggest seeing the vet, having them remove the fleas and having them prescribe some treatments both for the cat and the house.

Bummer. It's a real pain to know that your cat is struggling with fleas! I recommend Bayer Advantage. It is known worldwide as a terrific flea treatment, and kills all the pests on your pet within 24 hours! And, best of all, you only have to apply it once a month! it is in the form of a gel, and you rub it in their fur at the back of the neck so the cat doesn't lick it off. It is completely safe and harmless to both your cat and yourself! Advantage kills both adult parasites and the larvae, destroying the flea growth cycle.
Just one little Advantage squeeze.....and your cat will be at ease!

I had the same problem before. My boyfriend brought fleas home from a friend whose cats had them.
I tried the collars, the store bought foggers/sprays, the drops on the neck EVERYTHING!
The only thing that worked for me was a 12 dollar spray from the vet (its a prescription). I had to spray my entire apartment (the floor areas, around the couches) twice (2 weeks in between). It worked and I haven't seen fleas in months!

My question is what kind of topical flea products have you been applying to your cats neck? Please tell me it isn't a Hartz or Zodiac product! Those products are very dangerous to your pet. They can cause burns as well as stroke and death. Trust me, they aren't worth the savings. If you want to get rid of the fleas try Advantage, sold at your vet. It is effective in killing fleas and safe to use. Try bombing the house again after treating your cat. Oh, collars don't work!

do lots of vacuuming to get rid of them in the carpet and furniture....spray the house and furniture and anywhere else your cat might have access. Get rid of the contents of the vacuum outside. Then buy your cat Advantage from a petstore or from your vet. Advantage kills all the fleas. As long as I have had it on my cat I have had no fleas. Nothing else worked for me and I had tried everything before using Advantage bacause it was more expensive. More expensive but worth it.

lots of good answers already - here's some more suggestions:
all bedding, anything washable (chair/sofa cushion covers) must be washed in hot water to kill flea eggs. Vacuum REALLY often and discard vacuum bag immediately after - get it out of your house. Check with your vet or a pet supply place for an interior house spray that keeps flea eggs from hatching, and use as directed, especially on bedding/mattress, upholstery/furniture, carpets - anything that can't be washed in super hot water. Get a flea comb and religiously comb your cat (dunk flea comb into glass of water with small amt of dish-soap in it - the soap coats the flea's shell and they suffocate - they breathe through their shells. Not fun - lots of extra work - good luck!
