They're the same thing as scallions. Really slender, little white bulb on the end and long green skinny leaves. If you can't find those, a little shallot or red or sweet onion can be used instead.

The green onions give flavor, you find them in the supermarket beside the lettuce/celery...you can use scallions or sometimes very finely chopped onion instead...OR if you don't have any of those....i'm sure you can omit the green onion. What is it you're making??

green onions, or scallions, are tall, thin pencil like onions with a mild flavor. You could easily substitute chives, shallots, or any mild flavored onion. Pearl onions would work too

There are long and green with a small white bulb at the end.
I know everyone keeps telling you they are scallions and they are but just in case you don't know what a scallion is, there ya go.

scallions, although personally i think that green onions are really good, you dont tear up when you slice them and they barely have a texture that you can feel when you eat them in a dish...really convenient

Green Onions is a soul album by Booker T. & the M.G.'s, released on Stax Records in October of 1962.

The title tune is currently being used in TV and radio commercials for Mercedes-Benz in the United States, and is a favorite at baseball parks across the United States as well, and was featured in the soundtrack to the 1993 Disney favorite The Sandlot. It was recently used as the theme song on Bus Eireann's advertising campaign in Ireland. Its growling Hammond Organ sound is associated with bad boy attitude and blues.

Green Onions peaked at #33 on Billboard's (North America) Pop Albums chart.

In October 2004, "Green Onions" appeared in popular video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Singer Billy Bragg claimed that the song could 'knock down a fascist from a mile away' whilst performing a version of the song in a 2005 concert with The Small Faces keyboardist Ian McLagan.
