Isn't that contradictory. If Jesus was God, then how could he die? I'm not trying to start a conflict by this. I read another persons question and this came to mind so please be respectful to me when answering. I believe in Jesus, but I believe that he was a Prophet of God and I do not believe in the crucifixtion.

EDIT: Believer, thank you for your answer, but it has raised another question. If Jesus had died for the sins of human, then why do people still die? and why are people supposed to live a life without sin if the life of Jesus makes up for that? and if Jesus's death made up for the sins of everyone else, then wouldn't that mean that everyone would go to heaven, so why is Judgement day needed?

Jesus' human body died, not his deity.

Jesus did indeed die for ALL humanity. BUT,to be able to accept that sacrifice, you need to believe in him and do the things he taught. When the Bible talks about death being conquored it doesnt literally mean that after Jesus everyone will stop dying. What purpose would that serve? God set up a judgment day so that the evil people that rejected him in life along with the hypocrites that thought they were good will be punished.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. -2 Corinthians 5:10

The "human" part of Jesus died on the cross, which was necessary in order for his life to be exchanged for ours. But, death could not hold him..1 Corinthians 15:55
"Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"
Matthew 7:26-28 (in Context) Matthew 7 (Whole Chapter)
1 Thessalonians 4:14
We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
He proclaimed to be God in the scriptures, so how can you say he was a prophet? Does a prophet lie about himself?
The crucifixion is a historical fact.

As a Catholic I believe in our Lord Jesus Christ and all his teachings and that he died on the cross for our sins and he will come again to judge the living and the dead. But I also believe in God our Father the heavenly God Almighty who is the Father of Jesus Christ. God and Jesus are not one person they are Father and Son one created the Earth and all living things and the other taught us about love and understanding and was crucified and on the third day he rose again. My life is based on the teachings of the Bible and that is how I live my life. I always try to see the good in people but sometimes I have a negative view on things aswell I am only human after all. But I don't always go to Church ever weekend because I don't always agree with what the Catholic church says and does.

To answer your EDIT, this world is not perfect. When Jesus died for our sins he did not change the world or eliminate sin, just offered a way to eliminate the separation from God. One thing most people forget is that God granted us free will. He does not force us to believe, he gives us the option to believe. What we do in this life is a matter of choice. If we choose to grow closer to God we begin to make decisions that keep us away from the separation from God (sin). If we choose to go our own way we often increase the separation.

My belief is that Jesus died according to scripture(on the cross), that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to scripture. (I Corinthians 15:3+4) It didn't end with the crucifixtion. There is no hope in that. He is risen and lives. He was seen on earth after he was raised from the dead. 1000 saints who had died rose again and visited their loved ones when Jesus rose again as a testamony to the fact. Jesus sprinkled his blood on the alter in heaven as the final sacrifice to redeem us back to God once and for all. Without that, the law would not be fulfilled and we would have to make sacrifice to attone for our sin as God requires. This plan was in place from the beginning as John says. When God created earth, the Spirit moved and Jesus was with him.

I guess only if you have that relationship with Christ Himself do you know the answer other than that whatever else you receive in the form of an answer you will need to question. A person can believe in Jesus but its a whole different thing to have a relationship with Him. And for those who read this and think you cannot have a relationship with Christ because He is not here i am speaking of a love relationship that of Agape, that of a Father and a Daughter/Son that of a Brother and Sister. Not a sexual relationship. Jesus came to earth in the form of man, He came to set an example for us that we may follow in His steps. He was that Perfect example, that which we will neva be in our eyes or in the eyes of man. But because of Him we are able to stand before God the Father. And because of Him the Father hears our prayers. And to avoid any further conflict it is our choice we have a free will, God DOES NOT and WILL NOT force Himself on us. Jesus Christ lives because He lives in Me. If you need to ask the question of how we know he is alive that is your answer. I think it is harder for us to understand or even comprendhend how He could lay down His life for us. How God could love us so much to that He gave His Son over so that we could come to Him. John 3:16 says For God so loved the world that He gave His ONLY Begotten Son that whover believed in Him shall not Perish but have everlasting life. Yes Christ was the Prophet..... BUT He was more, He was the Son of God.
And to finish i would like to show you that in the NT (New Testament) it mentions the word which is referring to bible and then it also mentions the Word (capital W) which is referring to Jesus Christ. If you read the NT that see words with capital letters you will know they are meaning Jesus Christ for example
He is the Way the Truth and the Life. Also the Word.
You may wonder why i have put all this in
Because this is another best way to understand how God and Christ are ONE. John 1:1 says In the beginning was the Word ( Jesus Christ) and the Word (Jesus Christ) was with God. And the Word( Jesus Christ) was God

n the sense of the spiritual He died when God seperated Himself from Jesus long enough for the crucifixtion to happen. "My God why has Thou forsaken Me." He went through the process of dying as we know it to be. He then spent three days in Hell setting the Old Testament Saints free and then returned to the cave where his body was and Translated His whole being, body, soul and Spirit into the spiritual realm. It doesn't seem too hard to me, if you can believe that He created Himself in Mary's womb with a creative miracle. Invisable to the natural mind. He appeared to His disciples and told them to go to the Upper Room and wait for the Holy Spirit to come and annoint them. This was the beginning of the reuniting of humanity to God.

There is ONE UNDENIABLE thing that the man Jesus Christ was; he was killed on the cross, it happened, etc. etc. The part of being concieved by God is another, I believe in it, only that people don't have open minds; And that applies to some Christian Branches of Faith (I'm Roman Catholic). For example Evangelical Christians have their heads in the dirt, they pray to Bush!?! They got a little girl crying for no reason, just because she lied or stole some candy. See what I mean. But you got to respect some people's choices.

Yes, Christians do believe that Jesus was not only fully human but also fully divine - that is, that He was God in human flesh. One reason is because of Jesus' own statements about Himself, such as His assertion that "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30).

How could Jesus die if He was God? One way to understand this is to realize that when Jesus' body died on the cross, He did not cease to exist. Yes, His body was dead—but His soul or spirit was still alive (just as ours will be when we die). Just moments before He died, we read that "Jesus called out with a loud voice, 'Father, into your hands I commit my spirit'" (Luke 23:46).

A far more important question about Jesus' death, however, is this: Why did He die? The Bible makes it clear that Jesus knew His enemies would try to put Him to death—and yet He refused to escape. Why? For one reason: Jesus came to become the final and complete sacrifice for our sins. We deserve to die for our sins, but He died in our place.

Why did He do this? He did it because God loves us and yearns for us to come to know Him and to love Him in return. He did it because He wants to forgive our sins and make us part of His family forever. Don't keep Christ at a distance any longer, but by faith open your heart to Him and commit your life to Him today.

What was so special about Jesus is that he was both ully God and fully human at the same time.

In the Bible we can see this because he was born just like any humans, he cried and was scared when he knew the time for his death came near. He prayed to God and asked Him that if there was any other way that things could be done, and that he wouldnt have to die, that it would happen like that instead. He aslo became angry and destroyed the stalls ofselling and gambeling in the church yard.

He also blead and died (human)....But then he rised from the dead (God)

It is very hard to understand and even harder to put into words. If you truely want to understand it, pray to God and ask Him.
