I've been taking 10mg of Propranolol 2/3 times a day since October for social anxiety, and I'm thinking of having another tattoo next week. I've already had 3 (before I was on the medication) and I was just wondering, are there any health risks that come with having a tattoo while taking beta blockers? Thanks :)

Nope I'm not a performer! Had panic attacks so I went to the doctors & she put me on Propranolol as she said anti depressants were unsafe until I have counselling! I read somewhere about going into some kind of shock, and also the ink mixing with the medication and causing some kind of reaction?! :S.. I'll speak to the doctor again though :) x

Tattoo artists cannot make medical decisions for you. Call your doctor and get the OK if you are at all concerned.

My feelings are that you would be fine to do so.

I think your pretty safe. It sounds like a low dose (ive been on them aswell didnt work). But go in to your pharmacy to make sure, better to be safe than sorry! Ive had to stop taking the tablets as im having other injections where if i was on the tablets and i went into shock theres no way to treat the shock and i would die!

beta blockers are a class of drugs used for various indications, but particularly for the management of cardiac arrhythmias and cardioprotection after myocardial infarction. Currently, no beta blocker is approved for anxiolytic use by the US FDA. Still, use of beta blockers to combat the physical symptoms of anxiety is not uncommon, are you a performer? anyway no it won't bother anything no wonder you need meds for anxiety ..you need to chill dude... LOL
