The fact that you are 18 and still truly respects and considers what your parents think about you getting a piercing tells alot about your background. From my standpoint, it tells me that you are a good kid, you are very close to your parents, you have a strong family-orient background and that your parents care about you very much.

Communication is the best key .... as parents we all might blow a gasket every now and then but eventually we all realize that kids do grow up and eventually will do as they want.

Talk to your Dad, be honest about your intentions and he might just surprise you ... as conservative as one might be ... we were all young once. Even though we might not tell you directly, but at your age, we are really grateful that you still come to us for advice / guidance / approval. Not too many kids like you out there any more. One of your parents might even offer to accompany you. Be honest and don't keep anything from them.

If you were my kid, I'd be very proud of you and your respect and consideration. Congratulations to your parents for doing such a good job on your up bringing.

~Good Luck.

If you truly want one, then sit down and organize your reasons for wanting one on a piece of paper so that you can make a logical argument to your dad for you desire for the piercing.

The interesting point about writing your reasons down is that you might find you actually have no valid reasons.

Crystal all you have to do is to be honest with your dad, your mom says its ok but your dad must know also. Parents just like me will act suprise, but still your legal age now to make your own decision, but because you love your parents, you need their approval and I think its wonderful that you are thinking their feelings too.
Just go to your dad,sit with him,but first you must assure him that you love and respect his opinion, then tell him that you know how he might react. If you do this, you will find out how your parents really loves you,......goodluck!! but you will be fine.
After all you have the name of my first born...........
