Sacrificing means lots of things. Sometimes it means you go to movies that you don't really want to see or you go over to her parents house when your could care less about being there. What it really means is that the things in her life that she values, supports, and believes in, become important to you too... not because you share the same passion that she does, but because you have a passion to see her happy and confident in your life together.

To sacrifice for your gf means you can let your ego and pride aside, and focus all your attention and energy for her because you love her.
My biggest sacrifice to date was that I helped my gf to abort last week as she didn't want to keep our baby (at that time she was 6 weeks pregnant from me).
I've always been against abortion. I believe in life and in love. I was ready to assume my responsibility and become the proud father of her child. I wanted to marry her (and still want), but she didn't want the baby because she says she's not 'ready', and she doesn't love me that much to 'abandon' her dreams, etc.
In my country, abortion is illegal. I could easily have forced her into marriage with me so that to prevent her from killing the baby. But as I love her, I was ready to sacrifice that bond of love.
