Electricity is measured in kWh ie kilowatt hours
1 kWh is the amount of energy used and this is the unit used for your bill
1 kWh is the amount of energy used if you consume at the rate of 1000 watts for 1 hour (or 2000W for half hour or 500W for 2 hours etc)
If you have ten 50W lights on for 4 hours the energy usage is 500 watts times 4 hours = 2000 watt hours = 2kWh = 2 units
