You haven't given much detail - like what particular thinking, or why you want to stop thinking, or what you imagine would be the outcome if you did.

However, I suggest you learn meditation. Meditation does not mean thinking about something: it means focussing your attention on something within yourself, so that you can experience consciousness beyond thought, ego, and anxiety.

Some practices use a mantra, which is a single word, or short phrase, which you repeat over and over. It is a bit like putting your thinking mind, on a treadmill, and as it becomes harnessed into that one simple activity, it slows down, and eventually you become more conscious of your awareness of what is beyond the mantra, and therefore beyond thought. This is known as transcending the mantra.

I personally do not use a mantra, as there are divine experiences, which are already beyond thought, and in focussing on those, I start from the transcendent stage, rather than finishing with it. Unfortunately, you probably do not have the divine experiences on which to meditate, so you will have to make do with a mantra, or simply focus your mind on the breath. The breath, like the ocean upon the shore, is in constant rhythmic movement and sound. Focus your mind on the tides of your breath, become absorbed in its motion and sound, and transcend thought and ego..

Do like most of america does and watch tv for about 10 hours a day. You'll eventually cease having thoughts.
