It's a very aggresive act when cats mate.
She may fight the male...even though she wants it.
Male holds female's nape in his teeth, bears down weight on her to steady himself and goes for it.
She usually taunts him beforehand....(bootie in air..tail to side)...she also calls out to him.
When mating it can sound like a scream or a baby crying.
Yes, it involves penetration when cats mate....silly!

Cats mate just like every other warm blooded creature on earth mates.
Of course is involves their reproductive parts!

The female lays the egg and then the male fertilizes the egg. LOL

but yes, it does.
they mate the same way as dogs, humans (some humans anyway), horses, etc.
and it's very loud when they mate....
