stomp on you. (left paw, right paw, left paw, right paw, etc)
My older cat has a habit of sitting on my lap and then stomping with is front paws, and now my new cat is starting to do the same.
Does anyone know why they do this?

I always new my older cat loved me (LOL)
Our new cat was a unwanted kittern, we are her 4th owners, when we first got her she was a nervous wreak, she would not come near anyone, now she has turned in to the most loving cat, so it is nice to know that she now loves us.
Than you all for your answers.

My 3 cats do this to me all the time...one prefers my stomach/chest area...the other my head! LOL It is just a sign of contentment and love, they may even purr while doing it.

As I am getting ready to go to bed at night and I watch them do this in their own little spot on the bed, I can't help but think of it as a "bedtime dance". It's left paw, right paw, left paw, flop down and sleep.

You can push them away (just as a mother cat will push her kittens away from time to time) but because they are showing affection I just let them be.

That's usually called kneading,Some cats feel like there stomping though. But that's perfectly natural,Most if not all cats do this. It's nothing bad,Actually its a sign of love. Most the time they want pets if they do this,And they will continue to knead at you as you pet them.

It's NOT stomping; Think of it this way: You're get ready for bed and you FLUFF your pillow. Thats what your cat is doing.

they're not stomping on you. It's a behaviour called kneading which they do when they are kittens suckling their mothers. Cats do it when they are contented. My cats do it too.

It's called kneading,it's a sign of affection and is also a throwback to their wild ancestors who would do this to flatten grass to sleep on.

TThey're kneading, its a sign of love, they also do this to make their bed too. But when they're happy and in a loving mood they knead with their paws.

I think it goes back to when they were kittens, they would do that to their mothers to get the milk out. Its a comfort thing, sounds like your cats a very comfortable with you.
