Technology is changing fast. Plasma TVs will get better in the future. For now, they are no good (for home use only).

Please tell him that there are too many issues with Plasma technology, like colored pixels showing up after 3-4 years, convergence problems, and the amount of energy it takes to operate them, due to the power needed to excite or energize the tiny orb shaped bubbles behind the screen that are filled with phosphorous gas, Energizing these bubble like orbs takes more power than DLP( another iffy technology) or LCD, the only way to go. Why else did Sony get out of the Plasma format & concentrate on LCD ? That's my honest opinion, after researching all this for 2-3 weeks before getting my 42" Sony LCD HDTV Grand Wega. It has a better picture on it than many higher priced ones I've seen. And no, I do not work for Sony, I just know quality when I find it !!

for watching movies etc. plasma is great, however it has its flaws. if you are watching the same tv channel frequently it is possible for the little logo in the top corner to actually burn onto the screen. this means it stays there FOREVER! however, this is not the problem with a LCD TV. a LCD is the most popular choice for modern homes and if you ask me the best one.

Having a plasma t.v. is great. The graphics, for one thing, are GREAT. Also if you get the home theatre system you feel like you're in the movies.
