Maybe she has a hard time swallowing her food. There could be several reasons why she isn't eating..The doctors will run tests on her & eventually they will diagnose the problem . You arent't quite clear on why she went into the hospital other than she stopped eating. It would help her out if you go to the hospital & visit her as often as you can so she knows you care about her well being. Let her know you love her . If you believe in God say some prayers that she get stronger & strives to pull through this.

This is one of the first lessons in life you have about life cycles. I find the movie, "Lion King" good to remind me of the cycle of life.
Your great grandmother has lead a full life and I bet she's got uttles of stories she can share with you. Most often it is the love in sharing these stories that give ppl hope and strenght to embrace life to it's fullest.
You may also want to talk to your parents, priest/ministers, aunts/uncles, about life and death issues. Reaching out to your grandparents (if they're alive) will also help them. Believe it or not, if your grandparents were 70 years old, they still feel like orphans at facing the sickness of their parents (your great grand ma).
It's important for you to be on your best behaviors, be available to do extra help (dishes, vacuuming, whatever), and give lots of hugs & smiles to everyone you meet during this time. GB.

When people get older, their organs start to just give out. We don't have a cure for old age. She might have a few more years on her, or she might just hang on for a few days. Spend as much time with her as you can, and encourage her to eat.

Just visit, her as often as possible, let her know you are there, if she can let her tell you things you have been wanting to know, if not read to her, comb her hair, just let her know that you love her. you will be so glad you did.
