There are good and bad in all people. Islam should never have become separated, but due to people changing traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) it was split. Both Shi'a and Sunni have good and bad people within them, but some people think that Sunni are the cause of a lot of the terrorist acts that have taken place (ex. 9/11). A Muslim is a Muslim, no matter what sect of Islam he/she belongs to. Before we can find peace with the rest of the world, we need find peace with eachother.
EDIT: yoyoyo...there is a reason for that. Look up 'Ashura and read. Maybe you will learn something about the Prophet's Grandchildren (pbut) and the pain and suffering that was caused to them by people that were trying to change the practices of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Neither. Muhammad(PBUH*) ordered the Muslims not to divide themselves into sects like the Jews and Christians but they didn't listen to him. Shia are really weird. Same with Sunni. So if you want to revert to Islam than just be a Muslim as Muhammad(PBUH*) wanted every Muslim to be.

Both Sunni and Shia are Muslims, and in fundamental belief, they are the same. Peace to you.

From a non-Muslim standpoint, both are worthy of respect.
