It is a myth. But like religious myths, true love is a myth that people cling to and believe regardless of evidence to the contrary. The world seems like a better, more meaningful place if there is such a thing as true love, but there isn't. There is only attachment and codependency. We are in relationships for what we can get, whether that be material or immaterial. "Love" is just a word we use to romanticize it.

Let me ask you a question: Do you think God can tell a lie? Of course not; it would be impossible for Him to speak falsely. God is absolutely pure and righteous, and (as the Bible says) "there is no wickedness in him" (Psalm 92:15).
You see, time after time in the Bible God tells us that He loves us—and He can't tell a lie. He doesn't love our sin—but He does love us. The proof is that He sent His only Son into the world to take away our sins, and He did this by dying on the cross for us. Do you want to know if God loves you? Look at the cross, for it is the ultimate proof of God's love. The Bible says, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).
But let me ask you another question: Do you think your emotions can ever lie to you? Do you think they can persuade you to believe something that isn't really true? Of course they can; it happens all the time. So whom will you trust: God—or your emotions? Only God is worthy of our trust.
Perhaps you grew up in a family that made you believe you weren't worth being loved, or there may be some other reason for your feelings. But don't trust those feelings! Instead, put your faith and trust in Christ, for His love for you is everlasting.

Yes, there is. I have it with my husband.
We'd known each other for years before meeting face to face. We met over the net. I knew the moment I saw him. We just click so easy. He's the first person I think of at any moment any time anything happens to me. And this is after almost 7 years.
I'd call it true love and I don't see us breaking up any time. I can't imagine my life without him.

True love is through God, He is love and until you know God you do not know what love is.I found that out when the Lord came into my life. All these years all I knew was this so called carnal love and when I came to the Lord all things became so different and wonderful.

I am not sure about the true bit. However Love based on compassion, regard, communications, respect goes a long way.
Love based upon romantic dogma, lust and/or expectations will dissolve like sager in tea.

Our heart is hankering after love, and only God can satisfy this hankering. The so called love in this material world, is just a perverted reflection of our true love that we feel for God.

Only with God.
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
