J.F.K. was assassinated in the state of Texas.
He was shot in front of the book depository in Dallas.
He was not in a right leaning state at the time. Texas went Democrat in 1960 when he was elected and also 1964.
This happened primarily because the V.P. LBJ was a popular "son" of TX. He was a major leader of the Democratic Party and as President was responsible for designing his Great Society, comprising liberal legislation including civil rights laws.
