Alcohol opens up the tiny blood vessels to give your face a red appearance.

That's why they say never drink alcohol to warm you up, because when the blood vessels dilate, you lose heat through them.

Hope that helps

You could be slightly allergic. My boyfriend's face turns red when he drinks any type of hard liquor. He also gets really warm and his pulse rate gets going really fast. He has high blood pressure, takes medication for it. He doesn't drink much anyway - doesn't like the reaction and doesn't like the taste of most things anyway. If you can pinpoint a certain KIND of thing you drink that gives you that reaction, avoid it. My boyfriend drinks a couple beers and that it, gets no reaction from that. But wine and liquor he avoids. Try that - hope it helps!
