The current super power for lack of a better term is Egypt. This country has recently forged close ties with the USA and has been sold modern planes and tanks which far out class anything in the African continent. The countries only weak spot is a lack of natural resources other than the traditional agricultural resources it has always enjoyed. This is not enough to sustain a super power however the country has been expanding it's industrial might to help it grow and adapt to the 21st century.

If you are asking which country in Africa can be categorized as a superpower, then there are none. But if you are asking which superpower is gaining a lot of influence in Africa, then I would say it is China. China had just struck deals with many African countries for their infra-structure development and modernization. Africa in turn, will supply China with oil and raw materials it needs for its ever-growing industries. China will also build factories and upgrade the outdated African oil refineries. This will create jobs and opportunities for Africa's population. This is just the beginning. Later on as part of the deal, China will also become the main supplier of goods and equipments to modernize Africa's military, including weapons and defense systems.

There are no super powers in Africa and they will always remain subservient to outside interest.
Take Nigeria one of Africas many energy controlled satelites of British Danish and US oil interest today.
A country of extremes of wealth. With its capital leaders in Armansi and hordes of bureaucrats beign served by menial laborers at barley living wages and all the beneifts elsewise flows off shore.
Yet it owes outstanding debts, even by being oil rich, to the World Bank the WTO controls all its economic actions under Treaty instead of commerce by its own government.
The African continent can be best represented by the example of time women took off their clothes and embarrased the foreign owners of oil fields. The Euros have emasculated the males into economic slavery and while some wear suits as house boys the poor have to have their women take off their teat covers as the strongest protest they can mount.
One , you could call them a super power and still with nuclear independence capabilitys is France.
Ever hear of the Trans Sahara Pipe Lines?
Long a dream of France a pipeline of all of Africas energy outputs connected to one line into either Morroco or Algeria.
In fact they were dealing quite nicely in a free enterprise energy program lead by ELF in convincing most African nations to join in until the US intervened.
Parts of Ruwanda and Darfur, of course Somalia, and one reason US politicos will not look to closely into is caused by French Spec ops training one or more african groups while the US was trainign other african groups from the diamonds to the oil fields they clashed and the US caused chaos the French could not afford, so they retreated to Chad, and Libyia which is all they have left.
For you red necks you can cheer now and wave your flags against weak Frenchmen.

I don't think Africa 'has. a supper power, unless you are referring to those supper powers who are currently manipulating that Continent's governments at the moment.
Many people think Africa is the theater where this generations [18 - 25] wars and conflicts will center...this government, this 'country' is at this moment laying out the parameters and causes of the wars our own children will fight, and that continent figures strongly in tomorrows equation .
Politically ..we are a duped people. We remain 'entertained' by the media attention focused on Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, etc,..and all the while, behind the 'news', supper power governments orchestrate, instigate, manipulate, intimidate, prepare, and arrange events influential to wars' not even considered by 'us' the public, today.
