I just bought one yesterday, and when I went to put my kids carseats in, the backseat seatbelts are pulled all the way out and wont retract. Are they broken or is there some trick I dont know about? I've tried giving them a tug to see if they would retract back in, but no luck.

Any suggestions?

goofy is right on the restraint warranty.. but sometimes the belts will bind up causing this issue, at other times the retractor jams and only a replacement will fix this issue.

Also if this was from a car lot, you may ask them to help if the mileage is over 50k miles as usually this is a safety item and unless you bought it as is, they will usually try to help you out...

I would go to a dealer and talk to the service manger, Most Fords have a 6 yr 60,000 mile warrenty on restraint systems. Sounds like there may be a problem, Be sure the seat is not putting pressure on the belt.

Well, Josh is right, and wrong... The warranty on safety restraint items for Ford Motor Company is 5yr/50,000 miles. But if you go and talk to a local dealer, they can verify coverage,or check to see if the belts are twisted, which binds them up, and can be repaired very simply.
Hope it helps....
