I have used SpyBot S&D for a while, and never had trouble. If you look in the tools section' I think you will find a registry back up setting.Always use it and you shouldn't have any trouble.As far as faster browseing, If your on dial-up,there's not much that you can do to increase speed. As for your PC, clean out the clutter and defrag your drive will help with that. By clutter I mean old file and programs that you don't need or use any more.CCleaner and Cachecleaner are two good freebies for this. Go to FileHippo.com for them.

Spybot is reliable, I use it. It will not dirupt your OS. If you plan on reformatting your pc make sure you have your Windows disk and Product key. Deleting everything on your computer is usually the last option that I do.
Before you reformat your system, scan for viruses and spyware and delete them if there are any. Clean your system of program remnants from files you have deleted in the past, defrag your computer and add memory if needed, see if that helps your computer run any faster.

Yes... I highly recommend it over many other, less reliable products!
It is a bit tough to configure properly, though, so you might seek out assistance in that regard! Updates are NOT automatic, either, so you need to check (he provides updates about once a week) frequently to make sure you have the latest templates!

Yes, It is reliable. But when you are running a clean, it is best if you do not run any other programs together with it.
It applies to all cleaner programs as running too many of these programs may clash with each other.

Yes, it is a good program. I use it, along with Ad-aware (both available from www.download.com), and Windows Defender (available from www.microsoft.com). I use a combination of all 3, and have yet to have a spyware/adware problem on my computer.
Unlike antivirus programs, you can have multiple antispyware programs installed without problems.
