I would imagine that every state is different. In PA where I had my baby, the father had to sign a paper confirming that he was the father. I suppose to keep women from blaming their babies on just anyone? I'm not sure about whether they will go after him.... I would give them what you know. If he's that baby's daddy, then he needs to step up to the plate and take care of him/her.

If you change it to his name and then dont have him sign the certificate he can try and get a blood work done etc. to prove its his and try and get custody.

No present where will he be? The other thing.

Im sick and tired of people trying to take advantage of welfare and food stamps.

I pay NYS taxes.

I work 12 and 14 hr days to make sure my family is provided for.

The other thing is when you go and file for welfare and food stamps you have to give the babys daddies name so they can go after him for chld support.

I know many single moms that work and take care of children. So being a mom isnt a excuse for not being able to care for a baby.

I truely wish yu the best of luck.. SOunds like you have your plate full.

After you have the baby you might want to keep your legs closed. cant ge prego if you hold a potatoe chip between your legs.

First of all, you might want to be totally posiotive you're giving your child the accurate name. From your descr4iption, you barely know the father, are you sure the person you think is really is? Secondly, why would you want to give the child their name if it sounds like they will have no connection to the father whatsoever? Do you really want to answer questions later in life like "Mommy, why do we have different names?" The child will not be ignorant- certainly they will notice that such a thing is not the norm.

All that aside, you can give your child whatever name you desire, no matter how weird, wacky, or downright bad. You can give your child a completely unique name, although I must warn you that it will get a little confusing in the hospital. (I gave my daughter my fiancee's last name, but since I was the mother and they had to identify her with me, she was called "Baby Noga" instead of "Baby Gibson", which makes it more hassle when doing official paperwork and such.)

For starters it wasn't wise to sleep with someone and you don't know much about him. I think your child should have your last name because it sounds like you are trying to get over on system. Take responsibility for your actions and care for your child by working hard. Why should tax payers have to foot a bill for your ignorance. We are going to after you make sure you do the right thing.

I agree that not really knowing your baby's daddy was downright STUPID.... But people, throwing stones for being on assistance? I am a single (in process of divorce from hubby)mother of a 3 yr old and five months pregnant with our second child. I am on assistance. I work. I am busting my butt trying to find a FT job other than the crap-fest that I got stuck with. Point being: not all of us suck the system dry!!!!!!! There are a lot of us who try really hard to get off the assistance roller coaster. We're not all dead-beats who keep having babies to stay on welfare!!!!!

Why would you want to give your baby his last name if you want no association with him? In applying for food stamps they will question as to whom the baby's father is and if you refuse to name him, they can refuse assistance to you.
