He may be allergic to something. My sister had a dog that was allergic to grass and fleas (go figure!)

Take your pup to the vet and he can prescribe something.

You did not mention your geographical area. But, if you are using electric heat. This can cause dry skin, and irritated by scratching. The bleeding is mostly caused of coarse by the scratching. So trim his/her nails, down.

Take a fine dark comb and see if there is a dandruff looking residue on the comb if so, its a skin condition. Check this out at then, with the pet shop, Vet., or groomer. They can help.

If he has been scratching his ears then he most likely has a yeast infection. If he has be scratching his skin then he has a hot spot or and allergenic reaction to something in his environment.

allergic to chicken meat? or have you changed food / shampoo recently?

It may be one of the causes of skin irritation...
