Why do cats not like doors closed in the house?

like when i close my laundry room door or the bathroom door he starts crying and trying to open the doors untill i get up and open them.

With our Siamese cat I believe it's her mission during the day to open every door in the condo. I will walk from room to room shutting closet doors, bi-fold doors or just the regular bedroom doors all day long. Her favorite place to explore is the walk in closet so I know that will be open every time I go into my bedroom. It's funny to watch her open the doors using her paw under the closet door and snapping it open then pushing her nose inside to open it the rest of the way. If she can't get the bathroom door open she'll stand on her hind legs and beat on the door with her front paw until you come and open it for her but usually she has no problem getting into any room in the house. Funny thing is she never tries to go outside so I guess she must have enough doors to occupy her days so why bother with the front door.

Cats are very curious little creatures, the more you try to keep them out of somewhere the more they just HAVE to get in to see what's going on.

I've found that if I open the doors to laundry room..etc. and show the cats there's nothing fun to play with in there then tend to lose interest quickly.

Curiosity. They want to know what is going on behind that door. Plus, if their person is behind that door, they want to be with them. No one in my family can go to the bathroom without the cat.

Because when you close a door, it limits access to their territory. My cat cries every time we close the bedroom door.
