I have just bought 2 gentle leaders (leads that go around the nose) and i am going to use them today. Has anyone else used them before i am a bit worried. Do they stop pulling?

You have to put their lead high up on their neck, that is where they are most sensitive and they will not pull that much. You have to train them, have look on this website:

He is really good and you may find some useful tips. For big dogs like boxers it is important you have them under control, especially if you have two! Great dogs, love them.

First-you need to make absolutely sure they are fitted properly to the dogs. The Boxer short muzzle doesn't always work well with the Gentle Leaders. Only proper leash training will correct your pups pulling behavior. You need to train one at a time. Be a tree.Stop in your tracks as soon as the pulling begins. When the dog lets up and there is a bit of loose leash praise the dog and give a treat. It will take time and patience but it does work.

Basic Training of the Puppy - Read here https://tr.im/zkYaQ

The new puppy is certainly one of the most adorable and cuddly creatures that has ever been created. It is the most natural thing in the world to shower it with love and affection. However, at the same time it is important to realize that if you want to have a well trained adult dog, you need to begin the training process right away. The dog, like its related ancestor, the wolf, is a pack animal. One of the features of a pack is that it has a single dominant leader. Your new puppy is going to want that leader to be you, but if you do not assume that role from the very beginning, the puppy’s instincts will push him to become the leader.

The most important thing to remember about training the puppy during its first six months of life is that it must see you as the leader of the family pack. The essential thing is gaining the trust and the respect of the puppy from the beginning. You will not do this by allowing the puppy to do whatever it wants to do whenever it wants to do it. On the other hand, a certain amount of patience is required. Most people err in their early training by going to extremes one way or the other. Although you need to begin the basic training process at once, you can not expect your dog to do too much at first. Basic obedience training is fine and should include simple commands like sit, stay, and come. Remember that trying to teach the dog advanced obedience techniques when it is a puppy is much like trying to teach a five year old child algebra.

It is also important to restrain from cruel or abusive treatment of the puppy. You can not beat obedience into your dog, and it certainly is not going to engender feeling of respect and trust. House breaking is an area where this usually becomes a problem because of the anger that is triggered when the puppy fails and creates a mess inside the home. Although this issue must be addressed without anger, it most be addressed. If you allow the puppy to eliminate inside the house, it will continue to do so as an adult dog. The same thing is true of other destructive or dangerous behavior such as chewing and biting. Do not expect the puppy to grow out of it. You are going to need to train the puppy out of it, but you should do so firmly but with a sense of play and fun using positive reinforcement and lots of love and praise for good behavior.

I used one and it worked wonders. I could not walk my dog before I got the gentle leader. You have to be consistant with it. It should have come with a training video. Make sure you watch that and give yourself time to properly adjust the leader before you leave the house. Good luck.

They're a training aid, they don't work automatically. When the dog pulls against you he'll kind of turn round and won't be able to get where he wants to go.
Since its the first day walk them one at a time to give yourself more control and use the leaders to teach them to walk to heel. You'll have far more control and can position them where you want them to walk.

Yes i have one for my lab x,and they work wonders to be honest, they do stop pulling as you have total control over there head.Obviously keep training them to heel either in a good training class or by your self. You really will notice the difference though, just make sure there fitted correctily as if there not they tend to rub agaisnt the eyes and cause irratation.Goods luck.

When they pull it turns their head and stops them pulling.Use them with a harness for best effect.

Train them 1 at a time till they both stop pulling then go back to walking them together.

Use an harness along with the head collar. Harnesses are so much more comfortable than a collar or a check/pinch/choke. I swap from a leather collar to a harness with my cocker who who'd to pull to the extent that he used to cough and gag. He was more relaxed with the harness.

hi there, ive got two boxers, its easier if you take them out one at a time for a walk, maybe a wee bit inconvenient, but its easier and quicker to train them, together they will just want to play and pull, thats wot boxers do,lol, then when they can be walked without pulling? take them out together, they leads will not hurt them, you have to be really stern with boxers till they no that you mean business?lol, good luck
